It’s been an incredible past week for me and my office! I have plenty of exciting news to share about what I am doing in our district and at the Capitol.
In the District:
First off, I want to thank everyone who took the time to attend our Town Hall Meeting— with over 60 in attendance, it was a great success! Here is a great story from News Channel 9 on our meeting.
Also, I was honored to speak to a full audience at the Socorro ISD Mother/Daughter conference.
On Sunday the 27th, I met with active San Elizario residents to discuss annexation issues facing that area— I will continue to follow this situation as it develops to enhance communication and cooperation between all stakeholders involved.
I also hope you can attend my district office opening February 16th! Our office is located inside the Tigua Wellness and Recreation Center. It is located at 11200 Santos Sanchez in Socorro.
At the Capitol:
I filed my first three bills on Friday! All three concentrate onimproving the access, transparency, and affordability for our public and higher education system in Texas.
House Committee Appointments were also announced, and I was placed on the House Agriculture and Livestock and County Affairs Committees. These committees were a few of my choices when I was sworn in three weeks ago and they’ll directly impact my district. I’m looking forward to improve the unincoporated areas of El Paso county and support the agricultural community in HD-75 and throughout the state.
Lastly, I had the honor of being voted Treasurer of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus.
And lastly, I was also given the opportunity to share my thoughts in several articles last week. Here is my response to our Governor’s State of the State, and an op-ed I co-wrote with Representative Justin Rodriguez of San Antonio, which was featured on NBC Latino, Reproductive Health Reality Check, and Burnt Orange Report.
