Today marks the beginning of a new journey to change Texas.
Just a few minutes ago, I took the oath of office in the historic mahogany chamber of Texas House of Representatives. With my right hand raised, I carried with me the countless conversations we had along the campaign trail and the promises I made to fight for a better Texas. I will never be able to express my gratitude for the commitment and dedication that each and every one of you gave to make sure that our dream was realized.
My staff and I are ready to work hard everyday and to speak truth to power on behalf of those who need to be heard. When I speak on the floor of the Texas House in favor of fully funded classrooms, access to basic health care or for fairness for those who just need a level playing field, it will be the voices of the people coming from my mouth.
We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I know Texas can do better when we all work together and fight for what is right. It’s because of you that all of this is possible. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do.
